The End ~ Of a novel

Let a novel belong to various genres, how would you start thinking about the end of it? Happy one, sad gloomy one, mysterious one or anything else....

Because a novel had to end somewhere even though it may not be the last word of the story!!

Hi Neeraj,

I agree with Ritesh that issues should be resolved, unless it's a series. But I also think that a book should leave you thinking about something even if it's a moral dilemma.

Well, ideally an ending just has to contain the conflict being resolved. But the way it's solved is what makes the difference, between things like happy ending and tragic ending. etc. And as the author, the creator of the characters and plot you've gotta choose among the various choices you have, and take that one scenario you feel is the best for your story.
