First three chapters submission

Hi all,

I've completed my first three chapters - self editing. I'm happy with it and thinking about sending these to the agent(s) - multiple submission. I'll then continue self-editing with the rest of the chapters. Do you think this is wise? The agents will probably take months to come back to me.

Many thanks for any comments.

Hi Melinda, well done on your ms. I completely understand the rush to get your ms our there to an agent. I did the same myself, after some self editing and a bit of feedback from friends and my writers group. But I regretted it shortly afterwards. I ended up getting some more objective feedback from people and I purchased the initial draft service on here. I ended up changing my whole ms significantly and when I read my first submission now I cringe at what I sent off. I appreciate our journeys might be entirely different but have you had anyone else take a look at it? Even if you have, or haven't, and you are truly happy with it, what if you sent it and an agent requested the full ms quite quickly. Wouldn't it be better to have edited the full thing? You may even find some discrepancies which lean you need to amend the first 3 chapters.

Just my thoughts anyways. Good luck with your quest to find an agent.
