BTW, for any of you who think that I stole that from Robert Heinlein, it's a biblical quote.
La Gr@not@ is jumping on the flash-fiction bandwagon and announcing a book of flash-fiction.
The theme is "Stranger(s) In A Strange Land", i.e. about refugees. As in MOST flash-fiction competitions, the prize will be to see your name in print. ALL profits to ONGs that work with refugees. La Gr@not@ makes no money on this one. All contributors get 1 copy at cost price + P&P and additional copies at 60% list price + P&P. The sender of the "best" entry gets fame + 3 free copies.
Stories for children readers esp. welcome, but stories for all ages accepted. Max. 486 words. ORIGINAL graphic art also most welcome.
Deadline 25th Jan., 2017. Please send entries to granota@la-granota.com with the theme as subject line. That's IMPORTANT, as we get a LOT of spam with subject lines of the type "Hi!" or "documents". They all go in the bin unopened.
"hot Russian chicks" Does this mean Slavic poultry dishes? Could somebody please explain? I never open these e-mails, so remain in the dark. (Anyway, I'm vegetarian.)
To outfox automated e-mail address trawlers (who then fill our inbox with spam) the address to send contributions is now: "regnarts" BACKWARDS, followed by "@la-granota.com". (That's without the "s, People!) If you've already sent to granota@, we'll get it... we just need to wade through the spam swamp.
ADVICE: NEVER post your e-mail address on Internet, uless you want to receive loads of e-mails about penis enlargement, breast implants, hot Russians chicks who are just begging to make your acquaintance, SUPER flashlights, invoices, "requested documents" that you never requested, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.
BTW, all graphics should be sent as VERTICAL A5 JPEGs.
Re: Vicky's Q, no entry fee. We won't know the list price until we see how much response there is (and therefore how big the book will be). Count on ca. 7-10€. We want to generate profit for NGOs here so want to price it accessibly but not too cheap.
La Gr@not@ is registered as a publisher in Germany (where there is no reduced rate for printed matter p&p) but books are printed in - and sent from - Spain (where the PO doesn't recognise us as publishers, so we don't qualify for reduced rates... we're working on that). So - in order not to lose money - we have to charge 4€ per order to Europe, 12€ per order outside Europe. We don't like that, but - so far - it's what there is...
