There seem to be few of us who don't have some sort of problem with the genre we must assign our books. What additions to the genres would you make to better classify your book. Or if you were to replace genre classification altogether, what system would you use instead?

My first book is a "Practical & Motivational" "Self-Help" non-fiction book within the "Mind, Body & Spirit" genre according to Amazon.co.uk, which I used as a guide.

'the genre system seems the least worst option, for both writers and readers'

That's a brilliant précis, Louise. Wish I'd thought of it ;)

I'd go with Adrian, just add to what we've got. Either that, or have an empty box to write in your own interpretation of the genre your work represents.
