A Grave Inheritance

If I self publish my novel as an ebook, will I still be able to submit it to agents for help to get it published as a paperback? Or will they disregard it automatically?

Thanks, Zohiab, Jonathan and Adrian.

I have had the manuscript proofread professionally with good feedback, so maybe I should go down the tradional route first. You've all given me food for thought. Thank you.

Hi Anne.

Agents or publishers will not be interested unless your eBook has thousands of kindle sales.

Agents and publishers can track kindle sales.

I hope your book does well, but If your book does poorly you will struggle to attract serious interest as an author with future novels.

I would try and secure an agent if I were you. If that fails I would get my manuscript looked over by a professional before deciding on your next move.

I have always advocated the traditional route to publishing. I have not completely ruled out self-publishing. If I succumb it will be because I have exhausted all other possibilities.

Good luck.

I've not tried this, but my gut feeling would be they won't want it, though they might be interested in the next book. Particularly nowadays when volume sales are likely to be electronic rather than paper.

The whole publishing industry seems in a state of barely-concealed headless chicken syndrome at the moment. Once clear-ish routes to publication have disappeared in the mad rush for a profit margin of any sort.

So I could be completely wrong ;)
