From my experience the answer is NO. Not that I have tried your suggested methods.
You can bypass agents and self publish. Harder work of course but if you believe in your book, you should be willing to do the work. But if you do follow the self publish route, and want to get help from self-publishing service companies, make sure you pick a good one.
