I love the copyright place I use...its unlimited and quite cheap. I can copyright anything at any time with easy access. Its called Copyright House (UK) there are a few good ones about though.

You already have copyright over your work.

By simply typing it up on a computer, you have the date-stamp which tells anyone looking at it when the work was started and when it was last modified.

Your next step, providing you are happy with your work as it is, is to begin querying agents in your particular genre/age group. To work out who they might be, grab yourself a copy of the Writers and Artists year book (there is a childrens edition also) and see who is listed as interested in your work.

Then, check out each of their websites and see if they are accepting submissions, and also what their guidelines are - covering letter, how much they want to read, synopsis etc - if they want it by post or email.

Once you have done that you should have a pack of what to send - it will be different per submission.

It's worthwhile submitting a few at a time, it will take a while for anyone to get back to you (normally 6-8 weeks).

Any feedback you get, keep it, it will be like gold dust. Also keep a track of who you have sent to, and who you have received replies from.
