Who has read Holly's very moving article about her debut novel? My dear brother. She's half Welsh and half Austrian and researched her novel in Austria interviewing people in their eighties and nineties about the post-War era. I was very touched by the interviews she recorded, having travelled to Austria on many occasions to play in journalists' tennis tournaments. I made good Austrian friends and a few enemies simply because I was British. My wife and I found we could feel their deep pain still, even the ones who were quite unpleasant towards us.
