Hi, I spent more than 8 years to write my litrary-philosophical fiction. I published it about 3 years ago.My book isnot translated in English and i published it in Persian (Farsi). If I want to translate the name of my book, it will be: THE NIGHTMARE IN THE HALLOWEEN LIMBO. Now i am interested in publishing it in English. how can i find a publisher that be able to translate my book from persian to English and then publish it? thank you

I am educated in translating English and I translate every book from English to Persian easily but it isnot easy vice versa.I tried to translate it myself but

because the story is litrary and philiosophical ,it is very hard to write a proper word and it is better to translate by some one who lives in an Enlish country

who knows the different aspects of the words. I think if I translate it ,it would be like the books of thousand years ago in Britain. In each case thank you very much

This is a very difficult area. As translating books I would gather is a very specialist talent. As you cannot just run it through the Babel Fish translator and expect it to come out unchanged the other end.

If your book has sold millions of copies in Iran or where ever you have published it. You will have no problem finding a publisher to take a chance. Your own publisher may have some contacts. So try them first.

But if not, you will need to do the translation yourself. You will need to find someone you can trust and work with them as they translate your book page by page. The right translator becomes very important as he does need to get your meaning across.

I have just read about an Israeli Author who has won a literary prize and his translator won it as well.

The award, sponsored by the Independent, is presented to the year's best fiction in translation, and gives £5,000 to the winning author and £5,000 to their translator.

So I would suggest you find someone who is a professional Farsi/English translator. Or failing that someone who you believe can do your book justice. An Iranian University may be a place to find such a person if you do not know anybody within your circle.

When you have it translated you can then start on the hard part of finding a publisher using the Writers & Artists Year Book.

Good luck with your quest
