How did you start your novel?

Did you steam in Medias Res on the first page, or start somewhere in the middle? Perhaps you started at the end and worked backwards.

I started with an image I had. Of a scene that occurs hundreds of years before my novel is set, but sparks into life a series of events that effect my characters journeys now

Though I do sometimes write what is in my head at the time, I do not however it them in my work at the point they are written. I have a plan I work towards, with the obvious changes happening as I write and make changes

My shared work should still be available, it shows how I stared my novel better than I ever could :-). I welcome any comments

I start (not really the novel) but the entire work, by writing out all the conversations that they have in my head, it helps me to understand where they're going and avoids later surprises

Well, I started by making my character, and then slowly worked on the basic plots, elements of the world, how things would work etc, I already planned out the beginning and then the end, I just have a basic idea for the middle and keep on adding to it, as I go along.

This would be what my way would look like

Beginning----End-----The middle, by linking it to both the beginning and the End.
