Hi all

Just wondering, when someone is shouting at another character, how do you express that on the page? Do you write it capitals?

Thanks Lorraine, I will take both your points and see what works best. Thanks you :)

I'd never use caps - it looks amateurish. Exclamation marks, or a phrase like 'Oh, for god's sake' or a description of the speaker's sudden angry movements will convey the same thing.

Body language is very useful. Look at someone who is shouting, and see how they go red, or pale, or they stick their hands into their hair, or physically shake. All of that sort of thing can provide the information to the reader so that they know what the speaker sounds like.

What leads up to the shouting may make it obvious. Context is important.

Hope this helps.

That's what Q&a is for, Kim. No such thing as too many questions :)
