How has writing affected your life?

My social life has been non-existent since the time I started writing my novel, which soon became an obsession.

I have written 84,000 words and cut a similar amount.

One more chapter to insert then I'm done.

I have done many redrafts, thorough edits, cut thousands of words, added thousands of words, re-structured, corrected grammar and punctuation, and ironed out errors and weaknesses. It has been a long, exhausting struggle - mind-bendingly hard with many head-scratching moments. My brain feels like a worn out piece of chewing gum but I'm confident I will stagger across the finishing line, late 2019. I will be published.

I've been writing one way or another most of my life. I consider it my greatest passion. When too many problems arose in my life I had to stop. I couldn't find the time or concentrate due to excess stress. But normally, I find that stress can be conquered with writing. I took to genealogy for a while as I found I could concentrate on that. I found that some of my ancestors were writers of various kinds too, although only one famous one. I'm not saying who. The one that fascinated me most is unknown. He wrote about his amazing experiences in life. This has spurred me on when I felt like giving up after such a long break. If he could write after spending a night in jail after being wrongly accused over 350 years ago, I can certainly write. Thank goodness a witness turned up to say they had the wrong man.

Hello Adrian,

In recent years I have found writing helps me focus and improves my level of concentration. From ideas that get lost among everyday thoughts and routine to the creation of something beautiful.

It has become a hobby in which I can use everything and anything for inspiration, whether it be a picture, a show, a game or a location visited. It all tides in with my writing on some level and I am extremely happy with it.

On another note; it provides me with a great escape from my full time job, life's woes and the endless paying of my bills so to speak.
