Inspiration Methods!

Hey there writers,

I was working on my novel toady and glanced up at my wall - where I have a board full of inspirational quotes from published authors. I thought to myself are there other ways one can get inspired other than the technique I'm using, not to say that it doesn't inspire me. I'm just a little curios!

Thanks again :)

All of the above.

I write historicals and occasionally appropriate real actions or anecdotes for my characters. Though I usually recognise the actual perpetrators in a note at the end.

Plus there are a surprising number of events which are never fully explained by historians, or are still argued about. They make great scenes for fiction which can often be manipulated without altering accepted historical 'fact'.

Anywhere and everywhere can inspiration be found. This includes dreams if you are lucky enough to remember them. My family and friends sometimes help with ideas when it comes to creating characters. Taking traits from each member and putting them together will give you one unique character. Make notes of what you see, hear, smell taste….all will help when it comes to story and character ideas.

I often find inspiration from songs. I can't remember the artist but I heard a song called 'Concrete Angel' and it inspired me to write a story about child abuse. Another song that inspired me to write my first novelette was Shaggy's song 'Gone With The Angels.' Inspiration can be found anywhere :)
