Is it possible here to ask about Poetry please?
I hae just completed my Poetry compilation, after 20 years worth of creating, editing and formatting (phew) and was wondering if looking for literary agents for this genre could be worth while?
I have been a 'closet' author for soo long and have only, just come out (for want of a better description).
I have around 2000 stories, books, and two movie scripts too. Another novel almost completed too. I happily await some advice.
Poetry is the most difficult thing to publish. I have a friend who writes children's poetry and has enough rejections to wallpaper her bedroom with. Nothing's impossible, though. You submission will need to be perfect and if you can create any new avenue or audience for your work, you might be able to interest someone. With poetry I think you need to show there will be a readership for what you are offering. An online following would be useful for that. If you can get a wordpress site, put some free poetry on it and gather enough people to visit it, that would show you are able to garner support for your work. Good luck.
Your best bet should to be to look in the Writers and Artists year book.
