journal written in 1783

I have a first hand original account of the period in American history from 1776-1783 written by my ancestor. The journal charts his search for fame and fortune in the West Indies followed by capture by American patriots and his adventures living in Philadephia and New York during the war. The journal is about 3,000 words in length.

Any ideas on how to go about publishing it or who might be interested?

If he had much involvement in the War of Independence a military publisher might be interested (eg. Pen & Sword in the UK publish combatants' journals).

Otherwise try a web search for similar period memoirs and see who has published them. 3000 words is maybe a little short for a mainstream publisher but you never know. If I was interested in that time, I'd want to read it! There's probably a WOI society in the US - maybe they could suggest an appropriate company.

Best of luck finding someone :)
