Kindle KDP - Select Global Fund

Has anyone published their e-book and used the Kindle Direct Publishing Select Global Fund? It's part of Amazon-Kindle empire. In return for allowing your e-book to be "borrowed" by readers rather than bought you are eligible for a share of a monthly pot of money around $1 million each month worldwide. I wondered how much (if anything) anyone has earned from this?

Thanks for the feedback Jonathan.

I tried it, though my experience is probably atypical.

The main problem I had was removing the book from other retailer sites, since it's also distributed via Smashwords and KDP Select requires exclusivity for them.

In the end, though it was listed as Select by Amazon it was never exclusive despite my best efforts, so lost its status and earned me nothing. The offending retailers did eventually remove the book from their lists but far too late, so I ended up with the worst of both worlds.

Based on this I'd advise anyone who wants to use Select to stick to Amazon as sole distributor, at least until you see if any extra cash seems worth limiting your visibility.
