Literary agents for African inspired childrens books?

Hi all, I am newly registered here. After years of ideas stewing in my head, I've finally begun writing and re-drafting a few early reader books. Being a newbie to this entire process, I was at least able to research the steps to getting published. However, as my books are based on a mixed heritage family in the setting of an unnamed African country (mimicking my family set up and upbringing) I am quite concerned about how to find an agent that will 'feel' my vision. A friend experienced at writing has read the books and is quite happy with them in the sense that she (a British lady) could relate to the main theme, yet she was excited to read about some things which she'd never heard about previously (foods, particular landscapes, market scenes, etc). As my ultimate goal is to showcase few bits of African culture which a global audience (of little ones) can still connect with, I am kindly asking for advice as to any specific agents who may be most appropriate for me to send enquiries to? Any advice and/or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Many thanks

I guess you won't know until you've tried. If you don't get anywhere with agents it might be worth trying small publishers instead, some of who will have been created to cater to a more diverse audience.
