Making more writerly friends

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and indoors with this virus crisis. I want to start making connections with other writers and forming more friendships if I can.

Last week I sat down and realised that I don't have very many, if any, writer friends and I would like to change this. As writing can be a solitary activity it's great to check in with other writers who are going through the same thing and just have a chat about life even!

I'm not too sure where to start with this however. I was thinking about forming a WhatsApp group or maybe even a writers circle when this lock down eventually ends. I live in Cardiff and haven't come across many writing groups so would be interested in starting one, but with the current global situation I think it would be best to form a WhatsApp group first and take it from there.

Anyone interested in connecting and potentially making more writerly friends?

Kind Regards,

David

I recently saw in a TV programme that authors virtually came together and exchanged their ideas and thoughts - this is something new that showed up during Covid19. Usually as a professional writer, you don't get in touch with so many people. So I thought this was a great idea to meet other peers and discuss about anything they like :-)

Hi David,

First, I need to tell you you live in the right place! We have a vibrant writing community here in sunny Cardiff. Getting people together is always a challenge and is not helped by the current situation, but when I wanted to kick start my work again I went along to the 'writing in the park' class. It's held in the education centre in Bute Park. It won't be on right now, but I'm sure it will be reinstated by Autumn. My class is still in touch by email and we continued to meet until lock down, even though the lessons finished in December.

I've also done some of the adult education classes in Cardiff Uni, although that was ten years ago now, but was helpful in that you are in a room of people on the same journey for ten weeks.

Would love to be added to a WhatsApp group as right now I'm at the end of a first draft that has no point to it whatsoever! They say it's all in the edit, right?!
