Does anybody know whether it is O.K. to make submissions to more than one agent at time, and if so what would be the limit.

A long road indeed but you are not alone! All the best.

Thank you both for that . It's really helpful. I have already tried two agents to no avail but it's early days yet and I know I have a long road ahead yet.

If you wait to hear back from each agent if you submit individually, you could be a very old man... I allow about 3 months to wait for feedback/rejection/whatever from each agent, but submit to more than one at at time. In a perverse way I'm glad they're too busy to reply, because it means theyr'e beavering away on behalf of their clients, and one day I might join that exalted band! As an author one constantly lives in hope.
