meeting with a publishing company

hi, i am meeting with a publishing company to talk through my books. It's a small publishing company who is local to where i live, if they want to represent me am i totally commited to them? Any tips on Questions i should ask at the meeting?

Don't commit yourself, or be pressured into an agreement at the meeting.

I would thoroughly check them out. If they ask for money don't have nothing to do with them.

Ask them if they have represented similar authors as yourself. Ask them what success they have had.

There are many things to take into consideration before signing any contract with a publisher.

1) Percentage of royalties.

2) Rising scale of royalties if your book does well

3) English rights

4) Foreign rights

5) Film rights

The best thing you could do if they are interested in your work is to get an agent.
