I've always read that it can be extremely helpful having a mentor in life for any pursuit, and I was wondering if anyone has gone out and asked someone they admire, or managed to get someone with more experience to point them in the right direction in terms of making a career out of writing (and not so much help with the actual writing), and whether there is any helpful advice about getting a mentor - thanks!
Are you a member of a writing group? These can offer mutual support and encouragement and maybe have contacts to help you.
