I don't listen to any bands really. The occasional bit of Michael Jackson maybe, or Adele. I might hear something on the radio I like. But my favourite kind of music comes from films. Does anyone else ever listen to music from films and come with their own characters and scenario's to go with it?
I actually love the Transformers' Scores. They are brilliantly inspirational. I develope a lot of my initial ideas when listening to any of those albums.
I like to write in silence with no distractions. But I do find music inspiring.
I will listen to classical music if the piece I am writing or editing is not to challenging. Many of the pieces of classical music that I listen to are from films and television.
I listen in hope that the genius of classical composers will rub off on me.
My characters bthat have developed profiles all have their own 8 "desert island discs" - which helps me to get an image of who they are and where they are coming from. A lot of scenes also have a background music track (or two/three) going on. It is quite common for none of this to appear in the text - but it is how things progress as I write. On the other hand I tend to find any background specific noise (other than general hub-bub) a bit of a nuisance.
