Did anybody else manage to do it? My certificate is on the wall above my desk. It says WINNER. I just feel exhausted, but I'm glad I did it. At first they said I was 377 words short, so I wrote 500 more. You learn a lot from it, but it's too soon for me to be sure what the lessons are. Thank you to Adrian and all the friends who helped me get over the line.

By the way, Adrian, I read the E.M.Forster book from cover to cover. Full of good things. One of my big faults as a writer is not doing enough good characterisations. So I suspect I need to be much more deliberate. Forster seems to be aiming his remarks at writers who are profound thinkers.

Congratulations. Well done.

I hope it was a worthwhile experience.

I must confess the competition has no appeal to me whatsoever, because I'm a slow deliberate writer.
