The website is for US & Canada only. No good for Uk and the remainder of the world, I'm afraid.

I really feel that having a literary agents is more important than ever as more and more big publishers stop taking submissions directly from the public.

It is also true that it is getting harder to get one, so new authors are really stuck.

My company provides a literary agent finding service and even we struggle to place a lot of the books that come to us. What we do is research who is buying books similar to those of the authors so they better target their books, we write fabulous query letters and often know the agents personally, and yet it is a hard, hard battle.

One agent to whom I sent the most amazing book said that although she liked the book, she got 300 submissions from new authors a month and only took on two new clients in a good year.

This is why there are so many books by celebs; the publishers have an expectation of fans buying the book no matter what and take these books rather than take a chance on a new author.

There must be a way forward, the book market is suffering and great authors are not getting published. Perhaps bring back the Net Book Agreement so publishers have money to develop new writers.

I am always happy to talk with anyone who wants some advice, but my feeling is that difficult as it is some new authors do find agents, and if you don't try you won't know.

All the best,
