New be

I am very new to all this and I have to admit it's very daunting. It's been a personal goal of mine to write a book. I have had a plot flying around my head for years but never acted on it. I have finally written a draft but have no idea where or what I have to do next. I know it needs serious editing but find it difficult trusting or knowing who to go to for this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Your first draft is a bit like a newborn chick - far too delicate for the outside world yet. Take a break, look at it again, rewrite - maybe three or four times....then you may be ready to hear some feedback...and do some more rewriting...!

Writing is the most wonderful way of spending time. Sending off your darling children for feedback is always my cue to start searching natural substitutes for valium online!

Thank you. I was thinking of doing that. No one else has read it yet. I have literally just finished it and I know it needs a lot of editing. I guess I need to start somewhere! Is it normal to feel scared though?? Ha

Hi Stevie. Write a good section of the first chapter on this site on writers' shared works. Then you will get people reading it and giving constructive advice and good feedback. It's the best start to getting your writing on the right track. Hope this helps. Elsie
