Novel outline

Who can advise on how to do an outline for a novel? Is it simply chapter one followed by a brief summary, followed by chapter two with the same and so on until the end? Are you expected to say much about the characters?

Thank you Toni for your comment. To be honest I was simply worrying about the format for a novel outline to be used in NaNoWriMo. I need a summary of characters and plot to get me under way. I've started but without a clear plan.

Hi Anthony,

I strongly suggest you do your novel outline however you want to. A little bit of trial and error, and I'm sure you'll find a winning formula that works for you. I look forward to seeing some work in the shared section.

Adrian, that's amazingly generous and helpful of you. Thank you so much. I know you've told me about the E.M.Forster book before, so I will get it. I'll print off your advice and use it.
