Planning

Hi everyone :)

Some time ago I was struck by an idea that I'm really taken with - but it's the bare essentials of a story, and I'm struggling to flesh it out. Do you find that small ideas tend to develop quite naturally into a narrative, or do you have to struggle for ages before you have anything resembling a plan? (Bonus question: does anyone have any good tips for organising a plan?)

Thank you!

I expect different people will have different approaches but for me it all develops from getting to know my characters. Once I can begin to inhabit their personalities and view the world from their perspectives the story tends for the most part to unfold almost 'by itself'.

Often I just have to write and write before it begins to form into something usable. Sometimes I just write blindly into the void, other times I already know my beginning, middle and end of the story.

Good luck!
