Posting Work

Doesn't anyone else think that posting work on the internet is a bit dodgy? Personally I don't think that it is a good idea because of some of the horror stories that I have heard about people losing their work in a similar manner and never being able to get it back. What do other users think?

Good ideas are precious secrets. Keep them in your mind.

I wouldn't post all my novel on here, but I like posting parts of it (maybe the bits I'm not too sure about myself) so that you, fellow writers, can comment on it and give me ideas on how to improve my work.

Also, don't forget that getting lots of positive comments on your work online could be a selling point, when it comes to send your book to agents.

I have posted one piece on this site and I intend to post more. I'm under no delusion that somebody on here would want to steal it as it is so raw and unfinished. (thus the point of trying it out on the readers here) I'm also pretty sure that the few ideas that I post on here would not only have popped into MY head so there is a strong chance that somewhere in the world "my book" is already being written, maybe even a better version.

I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion and should only do what they are comfortable with.
