print size

Hi all. Could anyone please tell me what size of print (or is it font) is the norm for writing a ms? I was told it should be written in 11 but I've done mine in 14. Is this too big and do I need to alter it to 11 or 12? Thanks.

Dear Elsie,

Glad you got the right info. I run a literary agency and we work with writers, literary agents and publishers all the time and always put everything in Times New Roman 12pt. It rarely offends anyone, while some have strong views about other fonts - both for and against. Safest to stick to good old Times New Roman.

Thank you both for your replies. I had an idea it was around 11 or 12 but I wasn't sure until someone actually told me they thought it was that size. Thank goodness for this site. Thanks again.

Anything that I have ever looked at has usually asked for 12, in a basic font such as Arial or Times New Roman. The info is often stated in the submission requirements of the publisher.
