Who do I make the first step to publishing a book? Do I directly send it to a publisher? Do o need an agent?

I think most publishing companies will only take books from an agent...so you need to get an agent first....although some publishing companies do look at books that are sent directly from you....best thing to do is check out all the book publishing companies online and see how they want you to send in your work.
