Is it really necessary to spam the questions and answers board to get your work read? Those who want to read the shared works will. If you have just posted it then it is on the community board for everyone to see. I don't think there is any need to advertise in the Q & A section and the current requests are pushing the real questions off the front community board. I realise everyone wants their work to get viewed as often as possible, but other people also want their questions answered. Can we exercise some restraint before the Q & As are completely lost?
I know that I once posted a question asking any interested members to read and comment on my shared work; however, I did this because my text is non-fiction, and I'm not sure if anyone would have reviewed it if I hadn't have brought people's attention to it this way also. Equally, I respect members' rights both to choose not to read shared works as well as to find questions in "Questions and Answers" and shared works in "Writers' shared works".
Perhaps we could ask Admin to look at the fact the Recently Shared Works are so far down the community page. If they were level with the questions people might choose to read instead of answering a question. Other than that it is a member's right to not review. No one here has to - it's one of the features of the site as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes I take an interest in someone because of the questions they have asked and go in search of their work, but as I'm not seeking review myself, I don't do that regularly.
@Adrian, it always amazes me that people post the same question time and time again at comp time without reading anyone else's same request and commenting on that, but it's only a few days of disruption now and then. And there is a separate tab giving all the info, but it's apparently hard to find, if the requests are anything to go by.
Victoria, I, totally agree. I would not read anyone's shared work who posted a request.
It is also annoying when people constantly ask for competition information. There should be a separate forum for competitions, and all the related information.
These forums have become very busy. It is good to see more and more people asking questions. I would hate to see them put off posting by unnecessary clutter.
