Hi,
I am looking to produce a television script based on soliders with PTSD. My question is although I have experience with mental health I do not with soldiers with PTSD. How do I go about researching this? Can I contact charities for help?
I feel strongly about the subject and mental health so don't want to give up the project however I don't want to portray something in the wrong light.
Thanks in advance for any help
Thanks for the replies.
I do understand that it's not just soliders who suffer with PTSD, it's just the story i am looking into involves a solider. However I don't want to portray it as only soliders suffer.
Thanks for the information. Can i email charities and ask for case studies stats? Is this usual practice? Apologies but this is the first script I've taken seriously enough to get to the stage of researhing
I hope you are not just looking at soldiers who suffer from PTSD because you think that it is only soldiers who get PTSD.
Often when I tell people that I suffer from PTSD I am told that I can't be since I have never been in the armed services.
I would say that you should join PTSD mental health forum sites and put your queries on them. I am a member of https://www.mentalhealthforum.net/forum where there is a whole section on PTSD, you can read through all the PTSD messages. There is also a section where researchers can ask questions.

Maybe you could try the British Legion. They do a lot of work with ex forces, their families etc. Good luck.
