In my naivety, or general stupidness, in the whole world of writing, and before I found W&A, I stupidly sent a submission to an agent, an agent that I really respect for the work she does too. My submission was, is, nowhere near ready.
My question is - can I get it back? I feel embarrassed for them to read it in its current state. And if I do withdraw it would they ever consider it again?
Any advice most appreciated :)
Don't say that you're a moron. If you do, she might not read the improved version. Unless she's one of those agents who specialise in moronic novels. From what I'be seen in the bookstores, there are lots of such agents. But you wrote that you respect this one...
That's made me smile! Thanks Jimmy. I think I will send a mice email :) and explain what a moron I've been and hope she might consider it again when it's ready!
I've heard a rumour (just a rumour, mind) that SOME literary agents are really human beings in disguise. If you write her a mice (sic: thanks, StupidPhone!) letter, she might forgive your blunder.
If I were in your position, I'd send an e-mail with the subject line "Please, Missus, can I have my ms back?"
But - of course - I wouldn't advise you (or anyone else) to do so!
