Back in Feb (Don't know why I waited until now) I got this email
'Dear Antoinette Adams,
How are you? I hope this email finds you well
We have here information that you contacted our company earlier and expressed interest in publishing a book. Would you be so kind to verify the address and phone number we have here on file when you signed up?
We have made quite a few recent additions to our services, so please feel free to review our Publishing Guides by clicking on the following links:

What are your thoughts on publishing your book under your supervision with less effort? Perhaps it is best if you happen to have a publishing plan mapped out already and then go from there.'
This was from someone called Junard "borj" Catingub from author solutions.
The thing is I've never contacted them and when I asked what information they had but I haven't had an email back from them.
Also, asking for your personal data? Eeeek!
delete, delete, delete quickly... like Jonathan said cold-calling is not a good sign... find a reputable agent you trust and go from there... have you ever heard of a published author saying "oh yeah, while writing and before I'd even thought to send out my manuscript and info. a Publishing house/Agent called me... it was so simply and easy!".... No...
Delete it, I'd say.
There's a company that goes by a number of different titles, and is based somewhere in Europe, which contacts authors offering self-pub packages. If it's them it's definitely a scam. Plus if they're desperate enough for business to cold-contact you that's not a good sign.
There are plenty of genuine self-pub companies, if you decide to go that route. Google 'publishing scams' for the horror stories :(
