The Second Draft

Hi,

I was just wondering about the second draft.

Is it a complete re-write or, is it a case of going through the novel, saving a copy of the document making amendments/cutting/rewriting/checking spelling grammar etc?

Thanks

I can't say I have a 'second or third draft'

What I do is make changes in each chapter and then 'save as' that way I have a complete history of every change for every day.

I have folders named by the month/year and witihn each folder I have dozens of draft copies but the date of the changes.

I guess from my view point, I like to go back and forth. Sometimes the chnages I make, at a later date, I don't like any longer and copy/paste the original into the current working document -- and visa versa.

Hope this helps

I usually just go through it making adjustments here and there. I have however found it difficult to perfect my first few chapters of on of my novels. I am still in the process of completely re-writing them. I guess it's different for everyone though. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's essential. I would label "going through the novel, saving a copy of the document making amendments/cutting/rewriting/checking spelling grammar etc" as being the third draft.
