Does anyone know of a self publishing company that doesn't rip people off??

Try www.feedaread.com

Yes, it's a rubbish name but they're very inexpensive, use POD (so no stock to buy unless you want to) and can distribute to all major wholesale and online catalogues.

Downsides are you must provide an edited, correctly formatted Word or PDF document plus your own cover, though you can obviously get all these outsourced if you're prepared to add cost. The quality of the end product in terms of both printing and materials used is really good.

Best of luck.

You could try looking at The Creative Pen. It's a blog/website that offers lofts of useful information about self publishing and what warning signs to look out for when it comes to the publishers. :)

Good luck.
