A competition I'm considering asks for a short author biography to be sent as well as a synopsis and the first 5000 words of the novel.
This sounds to me very similar to the usual submission components to an agent.
Is the author biography, in that case, similar to the info one might include in a cover letter? Written in the first person, etc?
Or should it be more like an author bio on a website? Written in third person?
Unfortunately the competition website has an email for submission but no email for queries.
Does anyone here know?
Your views/advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
Thank you, Malcolm. That makes sense.
I've got no experience of writing author biographies, but I have noted one or two competitions seem to ask for them. I assume that third person would be better, first person may sound rather boastful. Maybe this is something we should all have prepared, rather like a CV, ready for competition use.
