Short Story Competition

Can anyone point me to anywhere that states what constitutes "published" as far as the competition goes. I am wondering if putting it on your own blog constitutes published.

Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks

Hi Maurice

Thanks for replying. I am talking about the Short Story Competition being run currently by this site. Most short story competitions state that you must not have had that story published previously.... but the definition of that varies from contest to contest. Some say you can have had it on your blog, others say that means it is published.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear :) I mean, in the rules of the Writers and Artists Short Story competition, what counts as published?

Maybe the organisers can reply?

Many thanks

Not sure what competition you are referring to, but to be published, I would say you would have had to sign a contract. If you haven't, you still own the copyright.

But it might pay to check with those running the competition.
