Should I mention this?

Right now I am editing my book so it's ready to send off, as well as starting to write a synopsis and cover letter so I'm all ready to go when the editing is done. My question is should I mention that I have asperger in my cover letter? It has nothing to do with the plot and none of the characters have it. I just want to make sure before I write it.

Hello Antoinette,

Let them know now, in the end you are a writer and you are offering them your work for assessment, work from someone intelligent with an unusual slant on life, such an outlook could be seen as a bonus in a writer. I know it should not make any difference, but I assume the reason you ask is to allay any prejudice that may stop your work from being accepted, if that is the case, then mentioning it straight up acknowledges that any misgivings or prejudices are not from you. Any prejudice is solely their problem and will be present now or later, but on the other hand, letting the right agent know in advance can help them prepare and best understand how to talk with you. If an agent likes your work, they will surely tell you so.

Best of luck

Hello Antoinette,

I think this is a personal thing but wouldn't have thought you had to tell them you have AS unless you wanted to of course.

Good luck.

Hi Antoinette

When doing your covering letter and telling the agents about yourself you may want to mention it but I think it is really up to you as to whether you do or not.
