Does anyone here promote their writing through Twitter and/or Facebook etc? I'm just asking as I have read a couple of articles in writing magazines which are positive about the potential benefits of putting yourself out there and connecting with other writers, and would be interested if anyone has had some success stories and positive experiences through doing so.
Hi Frank. I've just read that Matt Hilton guest blog - scary stuff! As someone who could quite happily spend a long afternoon trawling through my local Waterstones I hope that it is not the start of the demise of the traditional book shop. I feel for the authors too as they seem to be constantly swimming upstream just to stay in the game. Thanks for highlighting that article, it was a very interesting read.
Sometimes Facebook and Twitter are not enough.
Even when you can sell a few books, things can conspire to pull you down.
Here is a a blog article by Matt Hilton on the very harsh reality of selling books in the UK and the practices followed by bookshops and publishing industry in general, Very sobering stuff;D~

Hi Elizabeth I haven't actually done more than a first draft of a short story, however I do post parts of some of them on Facebook as a way of getting advice from friends etc. I don't know if this is what you mean or if this will help in any way, but I do find after posting them I do get a lot of people asking for copies when I have a completed version. Hope this is in anyway useful :)
