Hi, all. Just posting this to say that I'm so close to being published. I've opted to go down the self-publish route. My book is Called Blood Skies with the pen name A.L. Star. I've ordered a proof copy to make sure the book is perfect, it should be here on the 28th. After that, I will announce the official date so everyone can buy it. I have made a facebook page, hopefully, you can find it by searching for A.L.Star Writes. The icon is of a Pheonix and Dragon fighting with fire.

Congratulations on finishing your book.

Go through that proof copy from the very first page to the last, and mark any changes you need to make. Don't remove the markers until you're sure you've got it right. Don't be in a hurry to get it out there, only to find afterwards that you've missed something.

Make sure you have spaces between all chapters, and that your contents page numbers match exactly the ones in the book. Look out for long spaces at the ends of lines where words are too big to fit on - don't be tempted to hyphenate them though. If you intend to publish an ebook from this template, the hyphens will still be there, but in all the wrong places. Instead, see if you can re-word the line so that the words fit better.

A new page for each chapter is a good thing.

You need blank pages between the various bits of forematter, and don't forget to put your ISBN numbers inside at the copyright declaration.

A word of warning about this site: direct selling of this kind is not permitted on W&A. The community guidlines are a little confusing so I asked. Their response:

'There’s no harm in mentioning you’ve published your novel within the Community section of the site provided it’s within the correct context (ie not solely focussed on pointing people towards buying the book).
