So I’m trying to write a query and synopsis for a short Children’s book, aimed at 2-5 year olds, being naturally a short illustrated book do you still write a synopsis?

Help!

Thankyou for your answer! I also need to find out whether to send one long MS of text or set each page I have written for illustration on a separate page. Here we go... I’ve re-edited tonight, having a few days in between reading and editing certainly helped me to see improvements, mainly what was unnecessary and where I could simplify without taking away from the story, especially as it shouldn’t be long given the age group.

Hello Amanda. I believe most will ask for the complete picture book text (and sample illustrations, if relevant) in which case a synopsis would be unnecessary. Others may require the first 10 pages, for example, and a brief overview. It's best to check each agent's or publisher's submission details, as they will vary. Good luck, Sue
