I'm on the verge of submitting my MS and don't want to blow it with a terrible synopsis/cover letter. Any tips?

I find writing a synopsis hard. I think it is harder than writing a book, especially if that book is full of subtle humour (which I'm told mine is). It's almost impossible to convey in a synopsis, because it is built up layer by careful layer, and there is not the space in a synopsis to do this.
Thank's Damien. Lots of advice on here & the web of course, now that I've tracked it down. Luckily the agent I wanted to submit to had a relatively straight forward criteria for submissions. No doubt I will need to get down to proper synopsis soon though, when it's rejected!

Wish you all the best...
