Hi all
I have a short story where two characters exchange a few text messages. Dos anyone know if there is a standard format for the dialogue. E.g. should it be in inverted comma like spoken dialogue?
Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the advice folks. Always a help.
All the best to everyone for the festive season.

I agree with Helen and wouldn't use quotes for written words.
I am sure there is not a standard format for texts. In Turf Wars I included a few text messages and tried to make them appear as they do on a phone by imitating the layout and font e.g.

However, beware of using characters that form emoji - your word processor may convert them to am emoji that KDP wlll simply delete without alerting you. I got around this by adding a 8pt space... :- )

Hi Andrew,
I had text messages in my last book and they are formatted in italics with a line space either side, which seemed to work.
I don't know whether there's any standard formatting, but I personally wouldn't use quotations as they are not actually spoken words.
Hope that helps
Helen
