Trilogy

Hi Everyone,

I have just finished writing my first novel to my three book trilogy of Nydiria and the Rising Darkness. I was wondering whether or no I'd have to write the other two books before I seek out a agent or publisher for the first book. If you could all give me your opinions that would really help me out, Thank you.

Agreed with Damien, congratulations! I've just started getting underway myself and I can imagine just how amazing it must feel to have finished a novel.

My first question is if you have completely finished the book or if it is just a first draft. If it is, polish it as much as you can before seeking an agent or publisher. If you've polished it as much as you can, I recommend cracking on with the next novel whilst you wait for a response from any agents or publishers that you have approached.

As both Damien and Carmelita advise, continuing on would be a beneficial use of your time! There is nothing wrong with approaching multiple agents or publishers at once, however. As is often said, you will receive rejections until that one 'yes' response which makes your day (or career!) and having more work to go with could be useful.

The only thing I would advise to bear in mind is that a great deal of editing work is done during the publishing process and it could mean that facts, scenes or information in your first novel are amended, deleted or moved, which could affect the next book or even the entire trilogy. If you are concerned about this, do all the prep work for the second novel instead, so that you can immediately begin work on it once you need to do so.

Doing the synopsis and general plot draft would be useful to present to an agent/publisher if they are interested in the first novel if they then ask for them.

I appreciate that what I've said is a bit of a mixed bag, but hope it helps!

Firstly congratulations a big achievement. If you're ready to start sending out your first sample chapters of the manuscript.... Research for agents done, synopsis complete, and the best query letter possible then I would suggest continue with the second book. If you wait on an average per agent three months think of the many many months you've got to come. What a great way to occupy your mind whilst waiting for the letter to say we love it.

Wishing you all the success and good news to come.

Damien.

The title sounds very intriguing. Would you like to share the first chapter?

I suppose I'd just keep on writing while the first one is awaiting a publisher or agent.

Dont stop
