TWO challenges to fellow writers!

Are you a writer or are you a rodent (mouse)???

It seems that nobody (except me) reads Q&As that aren’t on the first page of “Recent” Q&As. (That’s a shame because there’s some interesting stuff from years back.)

Anyway, for those of who might have missed them, a small reminder:

a) I have thrown down a gauntlet re: https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/question/view/2652 (Read all the replies in order to understand the challenge… or at least, all of the replies by Hache and myself.)

b) If anybody wishes to offer another prize (e.g. a copy of your e-book, a signed copy of an illustration) for SHORTEST piece of flash fiction (that conforms to the remit), that would be most welcome, I think. I propose that hyphenated double words (e.g. tell-tale) count as ONE word.

c) We are still looking for contributors to our collective novel at https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/question/view/2644 (a FEW additional ground-rules need to be read at https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/question/view/2645

d) If this novel ever comes to be printed, we will send a free copy to anyone who has contributed 20 or more WELL-SPACED additions. (i.e. leaving AT LEAST 3 other replies from others before you return to reply yourself.) In addition, anybody who contributes at all gets a 20% discount on sale price for as many copies as they wish. Offer valid until the book goes out of print.

BOTH of these projects are concerned with SHORT pieces of writing (max. 500 words in the 1st case: max. 3 sentences in the 2nd). That needn’t take up TOO much of your time.

BOTH of these projects offer the following bonuses:

1) You get to practice saying something meaningful (or funny, or interesting, or…) in as few words as possible. GREAT training for writers.

2) You get to see – AT LAST!! – your name in print.

3) You get to add these works to your CV.

4) You are contributing to VERY worthy causes.

5) They both have potential to be a LOT of fun.

6) You get a chance to relax from more stressful writing (novels, letters to agents, begging letters to your bank manager, etc.)

7) Prizes are involved.

8) Writing – in itself – is its own reward.
