typos in published work

Anyone out there discovered typos in their work after publication? I'm a first time novelist, and can't help fretting over a missing word I noticed, and on my first page at that! This is despite editors thoroughly assessing and checking it. I aim to put in for a couple of 1st novel competitions. Should I try to get the typo put right first? or try to ignore it. It'll cost money I haven't really got.

Thanks, your support helps. I couldn't help fretting after all that effort,

You'll find typos and other grammatical errors in mainstream publishers' books, so you're not alone by any means. It's gutting to find a typo, especially when the manuscript's been through several hands, but don't beat yourself up too much.

Apart from pedants like me I'll bet most readers miss the odd error. I'd enter the comps - if the book's entertaining enough I doubt one small mistake would condemn it.

Best of luck:)
