Hi, I wondered if anyone knows anything about this competition, whether it is genuine or just a scam? I've been shortlisted from 3000 entries to 250 and have to pay another £10 fee to enter stage 2. They did state this in the competition outlines, but there is no way to trace who they are, and I don't want to be falling for a scam. My novel is listed on their official website, which is promising, but if anyone could give me any more information I would be grateful. Thanks.
Hi I've never heard of a competition where you have to keep paying to get through to the next stage, it does sound a bit suspicious, like Adrian above says, I am just wondering how many stages? If they were very specific at the start, ie 3 stages and total max cost will be £30, then maybe, possibly, but to me, it doesn't feel right to be honest.
Perhaps you could google it with the word scam and see what comes up or if its a genuine competition who previous winners were or who the judges are - you could always tweet them to check they are really judging and not just having their names used? Good Luck - if its genuine I wish you well :)
If they can prove legitimacy online it would be their first concern to convey that to you. It would be a selling point for the competition. However, if there is no proof that they are truly legitimate then I would run away and take my money with me.
I would always be wary of a writing competition that asks for an entry fee.
All you can be sure of, is that it will have cost you £20 to enter stage 2. But, its possible there are many more stages.
I'm willing to bet a large sum of money that there are more stages.
Sounds like a scam to me.
