Use of Local Slangs.

In the recent story which I have shared with the group, I have used certain local slang used by the people residing in that particular area to show more genuineness to my work . Thus, I wanted to know that should I use local slang or should I strict to English itself?

Hiya Richard. I asked this question a while ago, about using local dialect in writing. I wanted to use some broad Lancashire in a story I was writing. The advice I got was that it's ok to use if it's relevant to the story line. Also some said that it adds authenticity to the dialogue if used in the right context. On the whole it seems it's fine as long as it doesn't get confusing to the reader. Hope this helps. Elsie
