Using names of locations not familiar with Bloomsbury

The story I used for the short story competition contains the names of locations such as PERETORU in Bayelsa State of Nigerian which is not farmiliar with this UK based publishing company.

Will it make other stories to have advantage over my story?

The Admin can also answer me on this.

I'n not sure what has happened with your question because there were several replies shown a few days ago including one from me.

To summarise my comments: It's usually a good idea to set your story in a place your readers will recognise - unless there is some very good reason for not doing so. You might need to explain where Peretoru is and what sort of place it is, whereas if you set your story in say London or New York readers would recognise the setting immediately.

Having said this, there are many SF and fantasy stories that are in imaginary locations with made-up names.

All the best with your competition entry
